The Bard from Racha Den LLC is a grassroots game studio where we focus our efforts into creating an original multimedia novel called The Bard from Racha Den. (To see what a multimedia novel is, please scroll further down for more info.) Our team consists mainly of talented students from Academy of Art University, along with professional additions and a multicultural cast of voice actors.
Our multimedia novel is designed for both children and adults alike, providing a unique reading experience that allows for an original score (by Charles-Henri Avelange), voice acting, puzzles—and best of all—a chance for everyone outside of the studio to share their cultures.
As of right now, we are creating a demo for our IndieGoGo page, set to release soon. If you're interested in learning more about our project, please subscribe! That way, you may be updated once the IndieGoGo campaign goes live.
Until then, may peace be with you!
Who We Are
What Is a Multimedia Novel?
A multimedia novel is a new way to read a book! Completely electronic in nature, the book acts more like an app that allows readers to experience a book with voice acting, animation, stunning images, an original score, and even gameplay! How is this done? Through two modes of ‘play’ we call Storybook Mode and Explore Mode.
Storybook Mode acts as your typical picture book, and it will take up about 80% of the multimedia novel. Readers will follow a linear narrative and “turn the page” by clicking for the next dialogue. Readers can toggle narration or music if they’d like to read on their own or read along. This is not a “choose your own adventure” game! Instead, the “gameplay aspect” is introduced in the second mode as…
Explore Mode is the interactive portion of the book where readers can take control of the characters themselves and explore a sprawling setting! The explore modes are placed between story beats, allowing readers to either take a break from reading and venture around, or to skip the mode entirely if they wish to continue the main narrative. If you choose to explore, you may find hidden dialogue, “deleted scenes,” side stories, and even short lessons on real-life cultures represented in the setting! And for all you completionists out there, you can find “trophies” hidden throughout each setting. Remember, you won’t miss any major story beats if you skip the Explore Modes or the trophies. These are just there for those who may want a little bit extra.
